Well, last night was indeed a Gamma World night at the table.
One of my regular players for my D&D Tyranny of Dragons campaign was away for the evening and another one didn’t even bother to show up. I told another player not to bother showing up since the rain was falling and he lives across town and didn’t want him to arrive here drenched to the gills.
But imagine my surprise when there was a knock on the door and one of my old players, Chance, had arrived. He saw a post that I was thinking of running a Gamma World one shot and figured he pop over now that he’s got a little bit more spare time in his life. My youngest child, Bailey, had said she wanted to play as well and lo and behold an impromptu gaming session was in the works.
Chance has been a regular gamer at my table for about two decades now, He started playing at my game table when he was a wee gaffer and watch him grow up into a semi-responsible adult. Though, he’s been coming and going at the game table the past several years due to work, life and other such events and it was good to see him at the game table once again. Bailey surprised the heck out of me when she announced she was going to play as well and that got the ball rolling and character sheets were handed out.
Chance decided to play a Pure Strain Human, Bailey went with a Mutated Humanoid.
So as they were making their characters, there was another knock at the door and lo and behold, Nathan, arrived as well. We had a quorum! So, he decided to create a mutated animal – Parrot as his character.
It was a nice evening of exploring the ruins of a lost starport 500 years into our future that was for sure.
